Beginner, Sailor, Skipper…? Our new World Cruising Course is designed to get you the knowledge and skills necessary to cruise the world.
There is no other program like this in the world. You will learn all the skills necessary for you to confidently skipper your own vessel, in terms of Seamanship, Boat Knowledge, Technical Knowledge, and Advanced Courses.
This course covers all the things that they do not teach you in sailing schools that you really do need to cruise the world safely. It is a 92-day program covering 22 modules that cover: diesel engines, boat electrics, boat plumbing, safety at sea as well as all the details of other systems on the boat. In addition, there are over 45 days at sea doing real international voyages so you will learn firsthand about planning for passages, provisioning, 24/7 sailing, and international check in and check out. All of this in some of the most beautiful sailing areas in the world. Climb aboard and get your space now as we only take 6 people per course.
The course is based in Phuket, at our Island Spirit Training Center, and is a full board course. Lodging, meals, sailing monohulls and catamarans at our disposal, during all the 3-month period. Some days off are also planned so you keep relaxed and enjoy the Phuket life.
In addition, there is over 45 days at sea doing real voyages so you will learn firsthand about planning for passages, provisioning, 24/7 sailing, and safe handling of your boat and crew.

The art of sailing is only a small portion of being a competent cruiser, but a very important part. We cover from Zero if that is where you are starting to get you up to speed all the way to Yachtmaster Offshore.

SAFETY AT SEA
Your number one goal in this adventure is to live through it.
Therefore, proper safety training is critical.

HOW THE BOAT WORKS
For those of you that have previously owned boats, we know that sailing is only a small part of a long-term journey at sea.
The boat itself is an item of love that needs attention and care to take care of you at sea.
This section starts with a quite simple “How to choose your ideal cruising boat?”. Then ventures into the technical operating details of:
- Boat Electrical systems
- Boat Plumbing systems
- Approved Engine course as it applies to sailboat diesel engines.
- Marine Electronics
- Watermakers
- Sailboat rigging
- Taking care of your sails
We know from running the largest yacht charter fleet in SE Asia that boats require continual care and when you’re in the middle of nowhere, you need to know how to take care of your own boat.
We leverage our hundreds of years of fleet maintenance experience to provide this unique part of the course.

GETTING EXPERIENCE AT SEA
Learning to sail and all the technical bits is a great endeavor. However, when S#$t happens it happens out there, so the sailing experience is a critical part of the entire learning experience.
In the WCC we study route planning and embark on 3 separate voyages covering over 2,000 miles and 4 international destinations.
- The first being a simple 5-day passage in local waters
- The 2nd voyage covers 12 days with long overnight passages.
- The 3rd voyage covers sailing between countries and extensive passage planning.
This will involve all the planning for a voyage including weather, routes, safety, and provisioning as well as experiencing long passes while sailing 24/7.
